Reverse Engineering
No drawing left? We scan and measure the sample, rebuild a dimensioned parametric CAD model, and manufacture from it.
Draft content. Numbers below are typical industry capabilities pulled from reference sites — confirm against what our toolroom and partners can actually hold before launch.
When you need it
- A legacy machine part has failed and the drawing is long gone.
- An imported spare has a six-month lead time and you need it made locally.
- A worn casting pattern or die needs replicating before it is scrapped.
- You have a physical sample from a supplier and need a manufacturable model of it.
How we work
- 1. Capture — 3D scan the sample, plus hand metrology (micrometer, bore gauge, height gauge, thread and radius gauges) on the features that matter.
- 2. Rebuild — a parametric model in SolidWorks, not a dumb mesh: real holes, real fillets, real threads, so it can be edited later.
- 3. Engineer — we infer material and heat treatment from hardness and appearance, restore the design intent behind worn or damaged features, and apply sensible tolerances and fits.
- 4. Drawing — a fully dimensioned 2D drawing issued to you, so the part is yours to re-order from anyone.
- 5. Manufacture — machined in our toolroom once you approve the model.
What you get
A parametric CAD model (STEP and SLDPRT), a dimensioned 2D drawing (PDF and DWG), and a note of the assumptions we made about material, heat treatment and tolerances. All of it belongs to you.
A note on intellectual property
We reverse-engineer parts you own, spares for machines you operate, and components you have the right to reproduce. We will not copy a part that is someone else's current protected design — if you are unsure, tell us what the part is and where it came from and we will say so before quoting.
Ready when you are.
Send a drawing and we'll quote within one working day.
